The A to Z Challenge is a daily meme posting every day (except Sundays) in April. Check out the list of 1500+ participants below and follow along for 26 days (and 26 letters) of fun. The 2-letter code after each blog name may help narrow your choices - (BO) is Books, (WR) is Writing, (PH) is Photography . . . and, if you're concerned about those NSFW pages, (AC) is Adult Content.
For my theme, I'm going with a little author/title alliteration.
Today's challenge post is brought to you by the letter J, as in The Journeyer by Gary Jennings. Jennings was a master of the historical, imaginative epic, an author who understood the appeal of history, and who had the talent to not only re-imagine it, but embellish it. With The Journeyer, he seizes upon the last words of Marco Polo himself, in which the great explorer promised, "I have not told the half of what I saw and did." Jennings picks up from there and proceeds to imagine just what that unsaid half might have been, taking us from medieval Venice to Kublai Khan.
To borrow an idea from several bloggers I've been visiting on the challenge, I've included a little musical accompaniment for the day, courtesy of Judas Priest. The title track of one of the heaviest albums in their history, Painkiller also marks the final album on which Rob Halford would sing until his triumphant return some 14 years alter for Angel of Retribution.
