The A to Z Challenge is daily meme posting every day (except Sundays) in April. Check out the list of 1500+ participants below and follow along for 26 days (and 26 letters) of fun. The 2-letter code after each blog name may help narrow your choices - (BO) is Books, (WR) is Writing, (PH) is Photography . . . and, if you're concerned about those NSFW pages, (AC) is Adult Content.
For my theme, I'm going with a little author/title alliteration.
Today's challenge post is brought to you by the letter C, as in Jack L. Chalker, author of The Changewinds. His was probably the first alternative fantasy saga I ever read, one that dabbled a bit in science fiction, and only barely resembled the epic fantasy and sword & sorcery sagas with which I was familiar. The stories were so strange, seeded with rather . . . well, let's say, provocative . . . concepts of gender and sexuality. There was a fluidity and changeability to the books that I've found carried further and deeper in his other works.
I wasn't quite sure what to think of the books at first, but I read the entire trilogy in short order and have gone on to enjoy many more adventures with Mr. Chalker, especially those more firmly entrenched in the weirder realms of science fiction. It's not exactly high-brow science fiction, but it's fun, it's interesting, and it scratches that itch for something completely different.
